Carolina Plantation Rice comes to you from the only colonial plantation in the Carolinas to grow rice for commercial sale. On the banks of the Pee Dee River located in Darlington, S.C. you will find a humble fifth-generation farmer, Campbell Coxe. Mr. Coxe is the Secretary of the Carolina Gold Rice Foundation. He is also, an amateur historian, Campbell Coxe wanted to bring the once again cash crops back to the state of South Carolina. First giving out to family and friends. The aromatic rice became so popular that he decided to commercially produce. Today, Carolina Plantation Rice produces around 100 tons of rice annually from its 34 acres of irrigated rice fields along the Pee Dee River in Darlington County. It has six full-time employees and two seasonal. Carolina Plantation sells a wide selection of gourmet products such as Aromatic White and Brown Rice, white stone ground grits, yellow stone ground grits, cowpeas, Carolina Gold Rice, Charleston Gold Rice, fish fry, and rice flour. These are sold as retail directly from Carolina Plantation or as wholesale to grocery stores, restaurants, and other vendors. It is now carried by the majority of grocery stores in South Carolina and has made sales in all 50 states. Carolina Plantation has also gained fame through its environmental practices. In 2007 Carolina Plantation Rice became the first business in South Carolina to be nationally recognized Green-e certified business. Carolina Plantation Rice has also made its entire product line recyclable and biodegradable. All the products are NON-GMO and GLUTEN FREE, which makes for a wonderful healthy product. We freshly mill our rice as the orders come in and then send it out within a few days. We do directly from farm gate to dinner plate.
